As a Learning Officer, SparkLab in the Queensland Museum Network (QMN) you will work as part of a team to help conceptualise, develop, implement and evaluate a range of learning programs and resources (onsite and online) for SparkLab (an interactive STEM exhibition at Queensland Museum). You will engage our diverse audience, including school groups and support inquiry learning as our visitors play with interactive exhibits and are active participants in programs and activities. You will highlight STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) at QMN and connect SparkLab experiences with our everyday world.
SparkLab, Sciencentre is a new interactive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) experience that opened at Queensland Museum in September 2018. SparkLab is Queensland Museum’s premier STEM exhibition.
The Learning Officers who make up the SparkLab team have expertise in sciences, science communication, education and museums. Collectively the team conceptualise, develop, implement and evaluate a range of learning programs that are delivered within SparkLab, as well as produce online resources.
You will engage our diverse audience, including school groups and teachers, and support inquiry learning as our visitors play with interactive exhibits. This includes developing extension activities for exhibits.
You will support visitor-led inquiry as you deliver pop up science programs at the Science Bar and support design thinking as you encourage building and testing at the Maker Space.
As a member of the Queensland Museum Lifelong Learning team, you will highlight STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) at Queensland Museum Network (QMN) and connect SparkLab experiences with experiences happening across QMN and with our everyday world.
There are no mandatory qualifications for this role, but qualifications in science communication, STEM education, chemical or physical sciences or a related discipline would be highly regarded, as would experience working with diverse audiences.
