The Museum has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and highly organised person to undertake the duties of Legal and Policy Officer.

The key duties of the position include:

The position reports directly to the Manager, Governance and Legal Services, and is responsible for a range of activities including, but not limited to:

  • Providing accurate, appropriate and timely legal advice on a broad range of matters including procurement, privacy, legal title/acquisitions and contracts
  • Undertaking legal research or other legal support work
  • Developing legal awareness training materials and running workshops
  • Reviewing and developing Museum policies and procedures for which Governance and Legal Services is the responsible Business Unit
  • Maintaining the policies and procedures register, and providing guidance to business unit managers on the process for revision and development of Museum policies and procedures
  • Assisting with governance priority tasks, as required.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this vacancy, applicants must:
–    be an Australian citizen
–    have a law degree from an Australian tertiary institution or equivalent
–    undergo a number of pre-employment checks, which includes a police records check.
