Duties
The Museum has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and highly organised person to undertake the duties of Legal and Policy Officer. The position reports directly to the Manager, Legal Services and also works closely with the Manager, Governance. The position is responsible for a range of activities including but not limited to:
- Reviewing and developing Museum policies and procedures for which Governance is the responsible business unit.
- Providing accurate, appropriate and timely legal advice on a broad range of matters.
- Undertaking legal research or other legal support work.
- Assisting the Manager, Legal Services in their role as Freedom of Information (FOI) and Privacy contact officer including coordinating responses to FOI requests and privacy issues and complaints.
- Developing training materials and workshops to support the Museum’s legal and governance functions.
- Assisting with review of policy and training in relation to complaints handling procedures.
- Assisting with Governance business unit priority tasks, as required.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this vacancy, applicants must:
– be an Australian citizen
– have a law degree from an Australian tertiary institution or equivalent
– undergo a number of pre-employment checks, including a police records check.
