As a part of our Collection Relocation project, you will be working on the preparation of the Photo Library collection currently stored at Ultimo for digitisation and relocation to the museum discovery centre. You will be responsible for providing photographic library and research services internally and externally, and maintenance of the Photo Library and its collections ensuring effective access to library resources.
Key highlights of the role:
- Develop and manage convenient, accessible photographic library and information services
- Establish and implement photographic library and information policies and procedures and maintain the organisation of library materials including accessions, cataloguing, classification and indexing; monitor copyright and intellectual property compliance and contractual commitments.
- Provide advice to the Library Services Manager for improvement in procedures, policies and processes in relation to photographic library services; and
- Prepare reports related to photographic library and information services, resources and activities
This is the role for you, if you have…
- Associate Diploma of Library Practice (or equivalent).
- Tertiary qualifications in information management, photography, history, sciences or design desirable.
- Working knowledge of copyright law and its applications, especially as applied to the reproduction of photographs and other museum collection objects in the contexts of exhibitions and publications
- Sound experience in photographic cataloguing conventions, image metadata, bibliographic input and record downloading, digital storage and retrieval systems, archive storage systems, information management and researching methodology
- Experience with safe-handling and storage of analogue photographic mediaMuseum collection experience desirable
- High level written and oral communication skills
