Te Papa stands proud as an iconic national building housing the treasures of the nation and is a vibrant destination for both national and international visitors.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Collections, Research & Learning Directorate.  Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Loans and Acquisitions, this role is responsible for facilitating loan transactions and coordinating acquisition proposals through to completion in accordance with Te Papa’s loans and acquisitions processes.

Key accountabilities are:

  • Co-ordinate and negotiate assigned loan transactions and adhere to the standards of the loans process, including delegations
  • Review assigned acquisition proposals and adhere to the standards of the acquisitions process, including delegations
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with Te Papa staff and external stakeholders
  • Undertake risk identification, assessment, and management throughout the loans and acquisitions process
  • Ensure cultural requirements and sensitivities are identified and managed appropriately
  • Ensure associated costs of loans and acquisitions transactions are identified, and responsibility negotiated between relevant parties
  • Ensure all loans and acquisitions activity is fully documented, accurate and accessible internally
  • Proactively support and train staff on the loans and acquisitions process

Our successful candidate will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in the sciences, humanities, museum studies or administration
  • Previous experience in a museum or cultural heritage environment
  • Excellent facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain thorough and accurate documentation
  • Engaged communicator with excellent verbal, written and listening skills
  • Strong team player and ability to work collaboratively
