Auckland Museum is an influential, much-loved organisation at the centre of Auckland’s identity, committed to outstanding management of its extensive collections and the permanent and volunteer staff who tell the Museum’s stories.
Auckland Museum has a 1-year fixed term opportunity for a highly motivated Loans Officer to join the Museum at an exciting time of redevelopment and renewal. This position is part of the wider Collections and Research team and is responsible for administering the Museum’s inward and outward loans. This is achieved through negotiation with Curators and other Museum teams as well as lenders and borrowers, the arrangement of loan logistics and the expert management of loans including physical care, processing and robust documentation and record-keeping.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A relevant degree
- Experience in loan management
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills and a strong work ethic
- Relevant museum experience including object handling and packing
- Knowledge of tikanga Maori
- A current full driver’s licence
- An ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, holidays and/or weekends
This exciting and challenging role sits at the heart of many of the Museum’s key strategic Future Museum aspirations. The role is key to sharing our collections with our communities, coupled with contributing to the Museum providing exciting and compelling exhibition experiences for visitors to Auckland Museum.
