We are seeking an enthusiastic team member to lead the future development and maintenance of an efficient and effective collection management system (Vernon) for managing the State Collection assets held in care by the Queensland Museum. The role will include the creation of policies and procedures associated with implementation of the system; delivery of training and support for staff across both cultural and scientific disciplines; provide statutory reporting of museum activities and provide information and support to the Museum’s Financial section in regard to collection valuation and annual verification sampling. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate their ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders and clients and be able to act professionally and impartially at all times.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of the Collection Management Systems team to meet brand, vision, strategic and operational plan objectives.
- Lead the development, organisation and implementation of efficient and effective software systems for managing the State collection assets held in care by the Queensland Museum.
- Create and maintain policies, procedures and Help sheets associated with implementation of the Collection Management System. Monitor industry trends to develop, implement and review standards and adapt Collection Management Systems to ensure industry standards are followed to the best practical standard.
- Deliver training and support for Collection Management Systems across the QM network, including user requests via Service Desk, new user training, and ongoing training and advice.
- Statutory reporting of Museum activities to other government agencies and departments
- Maintain the Collection Management Systems; including upgrades, data file integrity, monitoring and maintenance of system health.
- Provide information and support to QMN Finance for valuation of the State collection, including quarterly reporting of new accessions, annual verification sampling and 5-yearly valuation reviews.
- Provide mechanisms for making Museum data discoverable to the broader community, while still preventing exposure of sensitive data.
- Develop a safety culture in the team by modelling safe practices and behaviour, implementing all required procedures, reducing your safety risks, as far as reasonably practicable, before work commences.
