As one of Sydney’s most visited museums, the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) is committed to being a world leader in maritime history, sharing the national maritime story across Australia and providing a must-visit museum experience. Starting with the opening of the ANMM’s Warships Pavilion, the museum is undergoing a major onsite transformation.

We’re currently going through a period of transformation and seeking a passionate individual with a ‘spirit of adventure’ to help shape our digital future. With a new brand about to launch, a new approach to ‘experience-first’ storytelling and major infrastructure projects underway it is an exciting time to join the museum.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, the Manager: Digital Experience will be instrumental in delivering the museum’s vision. You will develop and lead the ANMM’s digital strategy and drive innovative digital solutions to improve the visitor experience and business interactions.
Key projects include website development, aligning digital content to brand strategy and leading the development and implementation of innovative product and visitor experience initiatives using interactive and new technology.
This is an exciting opportunity to expand our digital capability and deliver smart, innovative, digital experiences across all areas of the museum.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Lead the development of a “Digital Experience Strategy” and the implementation of innovative digital initiatives across the Museum.
- Drive and oversee the implementation of the museum’s digital marketing activity including search, email, website, content, social and paid digital media
- Increase digital awareness and collaborate with other Business Units to develop digital capability across the museum
- Provide strategic leadership and management to the Digital Experience Team
Selection for this position will be made on the basis of relative merit which will be assessed against each item of the selection criteria. Applications that do not address the selection criteria will not be considered for short listing by the Selection Committee. As part of the selection process the selection committee may invite candidates to undertake psychometric test, you should advise the selection committee if you have any special needs. Psychometric tests may be used as the initial short-listing test or later in the selection process. Some tests are very short while others may take one or more hours.
