Our ambitious program over the next few year is reflective of this and includes major gallery redevelopment, temporary exhibitions and large participatory events.
The Manager, Exhibitions and Events will take the lead in delivering exhibitions and events, building the museum’s capacity for innovation in content delivery and public engagement in a heritage place. The occupant of the position will have a passion for working with people, cultural heritage and museums, an entrepreneurial spirit, a solutions-focused attitude and the ability to think creatively.
Your duties will include:
- Undertake the planning, scheduling, resourcing and project delivery of on-site and travelling exhibitions including their design and installation, and onsite and outreach events. This includes managing a team of staff and contractors
- Oversee all aspects of exhibition and event projects including:
• Ensuring that heritage management, conservation and registration requirements are adhered to
• Working with a range of stakeholders including internal staff, vendors, suppliers and partners
• Implementing creative solutions across different platforms for a range of internal and external stakeholders and visitors
• Undertaking critical evaluation of ongoing projects and implementation of necessary changes
• Identifying potential opportunities for external collaborative ventures - Coordinating the ongoing maintenance of exhibitions and displays on-site, including maintaining the stock of supplies and materials
- Development and implementation of WHS and risk management policies related to exhibition and event delivery; ensure all policies are current; ensure installation staff and contractors comply with and appropriately use WHS standards and safe handling procedures
