Position Description
This position leads the development and delivery of permanent gallery, temporary and touring exhibition projects. This includes internally developed exhibitions, managing exhibitions from other venues and the Museum’s program to tour exhibitions nationally. As the Manager, Exhibition Projects and Interpretation you will:
- Be responsible for managing the delivery of the Museum’s exhibitions and gallery development program, undertaking overall project management duties, including the development of budgets, procurement strategies, travelling exhibition strategies and schedules, and the management of contracts and logistical support for the Museum’s in-house and travelling exhibitions.
- Be accountable to the Project Steering Committee for delivering of outputs and overall project schedules and budgets.
- Co-ordinate the overall exhibition project management of the Museum’s temporary exhibitions, travelling exhibitions and major permanent exhibition and gallery changeovers.
- Prepare and develop forward plans, budgets, project schedules, contracts, agreements and strategy documents for the Museum’s exhibition program.
- Develop policy and procurement documents.
- Develop, negotiate and manage large and multiple contracts.
- Manage client, provider and stakeholder expectations through formal specification and agreement of objectives, outcomes, scope, outputs, resources required, budget, schedule, project structure, roles and responsibilities.
- Provide oversight assistance to Section staff on project management aspects and lead a small team of exhibition co-coordinators and administrators.
- Ensure that he/she has sufficient supervision, instruction and equipment to undertake his/her work safely and that employees are provided with sufficient supervision, instruction and equipment to enable them to perform their duties safely.
