The Australian War Memorial combines a shrine, a world-class museum, and an extensive archive. The Memorial’s purpose is to commemorate the sacrifice of those Australians who have died in war or on operational service and those who have served our nation in times of conflict. Its mission is leading remembrance and understanding of Australia’s wartime experience.
Under the general direction of the Head, Finance, the Manager, Financial Reporting and Analysis, is responsible for providing high quality, proactive and professional financial accounting and administrative advice and services to the Chief Finance Officer and Memorial business areas.
Major functions of the role include financial reporting and analysis to Council and senior management, asset valuation and management, policy development, overseeing the administration of the Memorial’s financial systems function, audit liaison, and the provision of other high level financial management advice as required. The position is required to represent the Head, Finance from time to time, and may also be responsible for the management of the day-to-day financial operations of the section.
Core Responsibilities
- Preparation of the Memorial’s monthly and annual financial statements and other senior management and Council reporting requirements.
- Coordinate all aspects of the annual financial statements audit.
- Oversee monthly and annual financial reporting to Department of Finance.
- Preparation of high level reports and the development of financial accounting policy.
- Completion of relevant annual surveys and compliance reporting.
- Management of the Memorial’s asset base and capitalisation processes.
- Participate as a member of the Finance section management of a small team and assist with relevant functions, including representing the Head, Finance and other senior managers as required.
- Ensuring the timely and accurate management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury and credit card management.
- Proposing and facilitating initiatives for ongoing process improvements.
