As one of Sydney’s most visited museums, the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) is committed to being a world leader in maritime history, sharing the national maritime story across Australia and providing a must-visit museum experience. Starting with the opening of the ANMM’s Warships Pavilion, the museum is undergoing a major onsite transformation. To support this expansion and change, the ANMM is recruiting the following key finance role. Successful candidates will be CA/CPA qualified and recognised not only for their proven financial skills, but also for their business intelligence, commercial acumen and ability to contribute to the dynamic culture of the museum.
The Role
Supporting and reporting to the Head of Finance, you will ensure ANMM meets all external financial and compliance reporting requirements in accordance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision making processes, agency guidelines and regulations. You will be responsible for managing the preparation of the ANMM’s Annual Financial Statements and Council reporting, submitting all financial, KPI and other reporting requirements to government, managing the ANMM’s insurance program, attending to internal and external audit requirements and ensuring sound risk management and governance processes are in place.
Your Capability
The successful applicant will be a CA/CPA qualified accountant who has:
- Substantial experience managing the preparation of statutory financial statements
- Solid knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, internal and external audit practices and methodologies and other legislative reporting requirements
- Ability to interpret and apply legislative and professional standards
- Proven experience managing broad and complex insurance requirements
- Superior communication, relationship building and business partnering skills
- A positive attitude and the resilience to work in a changing environment, within tight time frames
- Sound interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Proven experience overseeing and maintaining a strong internal control environment
- Commitment to driving a culture of compliance and process improvement
