The Friends of The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa Inc (Friends of Te Papa) is an Incorporated Society whose mission is to promote the interests, objects and activities of The Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. It is a unique organisation which enjoys a close working relationship with Te Papa.

The Friends has its own office inside Te Papa, and is a major contributor to Te Papa by way of a gifting programme and advocacy. The Friends was a Cornerstone donor of the Te Papa Foundation.

As the Manager you will play a key role in achieving the Friends goals and strategies – managing the organisation’s business, providing inspirational leadership of volunteers and staff and building the partnership relationship with Te Papa.

You will be responsible for developing and managing a diverse programme of events, lectures, tours, and other experiences to members who value a deeper engagement with Te Papa, resulting in enthusiastic support and loyalty for our national museum.

You will be someone who has an interest in what interests the membership and the ability to see opportunities in connecting their love for art, culture and the sciences, to the learning and passion of the amazing team at Te Papa.

Your creativity will be supported by a demonstrable capability to build strong working relationships across a wide range of partners and supporters, and by strong communications skills.

You will be a skilled writer and editor, responsible for all communications to members and volunteers, all website content, newsletters and social media.

With a full-time assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining membership and financial records, working with the Treasurer to maintain the financial resources and budget, including reporting and compliance.

The successful applicant will report to the President of the Friends of Te Papa, who leads the Executive Committee which is elected annually by the membership.
