Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking a Manager for Live Exhibits to deliver industry best practice standard care of the Museum Victoria Live Exhibits collection and the highest quality of presentation of live exhibits to Museum visitors and stakeholders.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The primary responsibility of this position is to be accountable for the management of the Live Exhibits unit, animal and plant exhibitions, displays and programs at Melbourne Museum, the health and wellbeing of the Animal and Plant Collections, compliance to permits and high level science communication involving Live Exhibits activities.
Notable skills and experiences:
- Broad knowledge and experience in the development and sustainable operation of high quality living exhibits.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead and manage a specialist team responsible for sustaining a living collection.
- Experience in managing operational, project and staffing budgets
- High level communication skills required to effectively represent a specialised workgroup and build a network of relationships to support its operation.
- Experience in managing contracts and permits, and operating within regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead the delivery of quality, customer-focussed projects using a team-based, project management approach.
- Expertise in the interpretation of animals and/or plants for diverse audiences, in a museum or similar institution.
- A sound knowledge of Work Health and Safety requirements and practices and a demonstrated understanding of the application of risk analysis and control measures to provide a safe environment
- The successful applicant is required to have, or be willing to undergo a Working with Children Check and National Police Records Check and be assessed as suitable (new employees are required to meet this cost).
OTHER INFORMATION
This is a full time; fixed term position to 1st December 2017. The salary on offer is $74,962 (base of grade) + 9.5% superannuation.
