Conditions

This is a full-time permanent vacancy. A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department of Culture and the Arts Police Record Screening Policy.

You must have a degree in materials conservation or other relevant discipline to be considered for this position. All overseas qualifications must have been assessed for Australian equivalency.

The position holder may be required to work outside standard office hours and to travel inter and intra state.

This position is split between the Shipwrecks Museum at Fremantle, and the Museum’s Research and Collections facility at Kew Street, Welshpool.

Duties

As manager of the Materials Conservation unit, you will ensure the effective and efficient delivery of conservation services within the Museum. You will provide strategic advice to members of the Executive team on collection based initiatives and collection policy, and liaise with exhibition and curatorial staff on collection management issues. You will inspire staff, volunteers and community to achieve excellence in collection care and will play a vital role in supporting the success of the New Museum Project.
