The purpose of the position is to be responsible for ensuring a positive experience for visitors from when they arrive until they leave. This involves managing and overseeing the Front of House (FOH) experience for visitors, from their initial welcome, the explanations of various products available and the ease and streamlined purchasing of a ticket. The role ensures that visitors receive a positive experience throughout their visit. This role also entails elevating the visitor experience at the museum through the retention and use of engaging, experienced and customer focussed volunteer guides. Ensuring the continued training and development of the volunteers and guide to meet the changing needs associated with the museum master plan including tourism and family markets.

This position is responsible for the development of strategies and initiatives to improve the reputation and profitability of the retail section, including the Store, ecommerce, offsite and wholesale opportunities.

Its core function is to assist the growth of the museum’s profit through services offered at front of house and product upselling, and constantly identifying and exploring new revenue streams and profitable opportunities. This role also oversees 3rd party front of house and retail contract staff.

Notes and Eligibility:

This is an ongoing full-time position which is open to current ongoing APS staff only.

Selection for this position will be made on the basis of relative merit which will be assessed against each item of the selection criteria. Applications that do not address the selection criteria will not be considered for short listing by the Selection Committee. As part of the selection process the selection committee may invite candidates to undertake psychometric test, you should advise the selection committee if you have any special needs. Psychometric tests may be used as the initial short-listing test or later in the selection process. Some tests are very short while others may take one or more hours.
