Develop and manage the retail and events business strategies for the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) to create a unique destination shop and contribute to growing a dynamic and popular events centre. Promote the museum brand and enhance visitor experiences by delivering outstanding customer service whilst developing and delivering innovative products and event services that optimise sales and productivity.
Duties
Deliver and develop the retail side of the TMAG business, including:
- First point of contact for event enquiries and sales. Actively expand the events business of TMAG through proactive venue hiring and the co-ordination of front end delivery. Prepare events business proposals, including quotations and bookings of contractors. Liaise with the Visitor Services Manager to ensure the effective management of event logistics.
- Work closely with the Marketing and Communications, Business Services and Visitor Services teams to coordinate the marketing and sales effort of the retail and event business and ensure events are planned effectively. Ensure excellent stakeholder management.
- Manage business planning processes and commercial modelling for the TMAG retail and events business ensuring that commercial targets and business development goals are achieved.
- Prepare and contribute to clear and concise reports on the performance of retail and events operations, provide effective financial and budget management, including forecasting, reporting, cost control, analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual targets and ensure that forecasts are accurate and achieved
- Establish, develop and maintains business relationships with current and prospective suppliers and customers in the pursuit of generating new business for the museums products and services.
- Ensure that legislative responsibilities for events management and hospitality are upheld.
- Develop and implement processes, policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective retail and events operations.
