ABOUT THE POSITION:
The position is accountable for ensuring that:
- Museum Victoria’s facilities and infrastructure are managed and developed in accordance with strategic asset management plans with a clear focus on risk and financial management, environmental sustainability, the visitor experience and preservation of the State Collections
- Capital projects are managed and delivered on time, on budget and in accordance with Museum Victoria’s requirements
- compelling business cases are prepared to support funding bids
- There are effective relationships with stakeholders, both external and internal.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic asset management plans and to ensure that facilities and infrastructure are managed and developed in accordance with these plans.
- Demonstrated experience in applying risk-based approaches to managing large, complex, multi-location public venues with high safety and security requirements and the capacity to align facilities management with Museum Victoria operations.
- Specialist current knowledge of theory and best practice in infrastructure planning, heritage building management, facilities management and development and environmental sustainability, including a record of achievement in improving the environmental performance of facilities.
- Proven effective and emotionally intelligent leadership and people management skills, including goal setting, coaching, effective oral and written communication and consultation, the ability to manage pressure, ambiguity and change and to meet deadlines.
- Proven skills in financial management, project management and cost control, business case development and advocacy, including the preparation, negotiation, and management of the broad range of contracts related to facility operations.
- Demonstrated effective use of asset management software systems.
- The successful applicant is required to undergo, and for new employees meet the cost of, a Working with Children and National Police Records Check, and be assessed as suitable.
