Tamaki Paenga Hira, Auckland War Memorial Museum has a vibrant brand that is well regarded within Auckland and well respected across NZ and internationally.

Responsible for generating awareness of the Museum’s public offer and driving visitation, the Marketing Manager is critical to attracting 1.2 million onsite visitors annually by 2022. Equally important is its focus in supporting the Museum’s revenue generating portfolios so that we can continue to grow our self-generated income. Driving onsite visitation will require innovative communication and marketing strategies, a comprehensive understanding of audience behaviour and excellent communication of the Museum’s onsite, offsite and online offer. Product and market development will grow the Museum’s existing audiences and market penetration strategies will develop new ones. Experienced in the development of integrated marketing strategies and the execution of targeted marketing plans and campaigns, you will be able to think strategically and act tactically as you work across the organisation.

To be successful in this position, you will offer;

  • At least 8+ years commercial marketing management experience
  • Exposure to complex business environments; preferably  the cultural, tourism, leisure attraction or entertainment industries
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of innovative, integrated  consumer marketing communications strategies and campaigns
  • A strong commercial focus with a sound understanding of value for money marketing communications (through traditional and digital channels)
  • The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to identify and execute strategies that advance the museum’s business goals
  • Exposure to membership and loyalty programmes and fundraising an advantage
  • Experience in leading and developing teams
  • Capacity and skills to communicate effectively at a senior level and to influence positive outcomes for the customer
  • Tertiary qualified in Marketing with a track record of delivery with the ability to think strategically, plan, and execute resourcefully to deliver on objectives and targets
