Sydney Living Museums cares for 11 of the NSW most important historic houses, museums and their collections: Elizabeth Bay House, Elizabeth Farm, Hyde Park Barracks Museum, Justice & Police Museum, Meroogal, The Mint, Museum of Sydney, Rose Seidler House, Rouse Hill House & Farm, Susannah Place Museum and Vaucluse House. All are listed in the NSW State Heritage Register. The Museum of Sydney and the Hyde Park Barracks on the National Heritage list and the Hyde Park Barracks is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

About the role
This role develops and implements successful media campaigns and activities to build the public profile of Sydney Living Museums, its exhibitions, properties, public programs and other activities.
Essential requirements the role holder needs:
- Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, or related discipline and significant experience in a similar role preferably within the museums, arts or cultural sector.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet strict deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills, with highly developed written and oral communication skills, and proven ability to work with creative and diverse teams with a commitment to superior customer service delivery.
- Experience in the development, execution and evaluation of successful media strategies that build public profile and support a range of organisational activities including public programs, events and exhibitions.
- Proven experience in successfully managing media issues to minimise reputational damage, including identifying, assessing and handling media issues, preparing briefing notes, statements and supporting spokespeople.
- Experience in delivering timely and efficient interactions with Ministerial Advisors and senior key stakeholders
- Knowledge in sourcing, building and maintaining media relationships.
- Experience in implementing media training programs and supporting media and communications protocols.
