The National Museum of Australia has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, organised and enthusiastic professional to join their passionate and dedicated Development and Membership team in the role of Membership Officer. Reporting to the Development and Membership Manager, you will provide administrative support to the membership office as well as dealing with a range of enquiries from members and managing a range of events.

The key duties of the position include:

The membership office is undergoing significant revitalisation with a view to growing member numbers and offering a broad range of activities and benefits. As Membership Officer, you will be the initial contact for many member enquiries and will support the Development and Membership Manager. Generally you will be required to work autonomously and be able to identify issues or problems and contribute significantly to their resolution. You will display good judgement and be able to make decisions regarding member issues and identify when you need to seek guidance.

You will work closely with the Development and Membership Manager to identify business processes required to ensure targets are met. You will coordinate and streamline systems and administrative processes to ensure the membership program is run efficiently and effectively, therefore ensuring a high level of satisfaction is achieved for our members and their guests. This practice will result in retention and growth of member numbers.

You will be required to comprehensively use and maintain the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database, including mail merges, processing renewals, new members and sending out reminders. This includes the use of existing reporting and building advanced research queries. You will also work collaboratively with a number of other business units across the Museum.

You will be required to draft formal letters and emails to members on behalf of yourself and senior officers such as the Head of Development and Membership and the Development Manager.

In addition, the coordination and management of events will be critical to ensuring you are successful in this role, and some out of hours work will be required.
