Te Papa is embarking on an exciting period of renewal that includes the transformation of our education offering.

We are seeking applications from teachers and informal educators who have experience in modern learning practices; innovative approaches; and facilitating learning programmes outside the classroom.

As a Museum Education Specialist Matauranga Maori you will use Te Papa’s collections, exhibitions and cultural and scientific resources to facilitate innovative learning experiences for teachers, students and our wider communities. You will facilitate the development and delivery of Matauranga Maori learning within the museum learning framework, with a sound intellectual and cultural approach.

You will be part of the Learning Innovation team that leads the development, delivery, promotion and review of learning programmes at the museum. You will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of specialist programmes and collaborating with team members to support Matauranga Maori concepts are embedded in our learning programmes. You will help develop our relationship with Maori medium schools, kura and kohanga reo. There will also be opportunities to contribute to Te Papa’s digital, exhibition and public programmes.

Fluency in Te Reo Maori and the ability to deliver programmes in Te Reo is essential. You will also need to be able to work effectively in at least one other discipline or delivery area (Pacific cultures; New Zealand history; accessibility and inclusion; or digital learning).
