Museums, ethics and law –
a conversation with Norman Palmer CBE QC
UK based Norman Palmer is an international expert in cultural law, including ethics, governance, import and export of cultural material and the application of human rights law in relation to the arts and cultural material.
Norman has extensive experience in the drafting of international agreements related to acquisitions and loans, and in resolving issues of museum governance. He has provided advice to cultural organisations and the Commonwealth of Australia, culminating in the development of the Protection of Cultural Objects on Loan Act 2013. Norman consults and lectures internationally on cultural law matters
In this seminar, Norman will provide an insight into some of the current complexities of ethics and law in museums and other cultural organisations.
The seminar has been organised by the ACT Branch of MA from 5:00pm – 8:00pm, Tuesday 22 April 2014 in the Friends Lounge, National Museum of Australia.
