Museums of History NSW announces immersive dining experience

Media Release, Museums of History NSW announces immersive dining experience, Museums of History NSW, March 2026

Museums of History NSW presents Dream Feast, an immersive dining experience at The Mint, as part of Vivid Sydney’s 2026 Vivid Food Program.

Caroline Simpson Library Collection, Museums of History NSW.

Combining food, sound and moving image, Dream Feast invites guests to activate all five senses as they gather for a multi-course dining experience within the hidden, historic surrounds of The Mint in Sydney’s CBD.

Presented in collaboration with ARLO Communal, the Sydney-born, New York-based dining collective renowned for their boundary-pushing, story-led feasts, Dream Feast brings together contemporary dining, music and visual art in a unique after-dark event.

Presented over four nights only, Dream Feast offers an intimate dining experience within one of Sydney’s most historic buildings.

Returning home for the event, ARLO Communal will create a multi-course menu paired with drinks that celebrate the artistry of food, culture and storytelling in their signature style.

Inspiration for Dream Feast is drawn from the Caroline Simpson Library Collection, Australia’s richest archive documenting domestic life across generations in NSW. Located within The Mint, the Library holds an extraordinary collection of pattern books, wallpapers, textiles, trade catalogues, garden ornaments, hardware, soft furnishings, manuscripts and photographs that reveal how people have shaped and styled their homes over time.

The Dream Feast menu reflects the evolution of how we eat, entertain and come together, honouring past rituals while reimagining them for today.

“We are delighted to be a part of Vivid Sydney this year,” said Annette Pitman, CEO, Museums of History NSW.

Dream Feast invites guests to explore how traditions of dining, entertaining and gathering at home continue to shape the way we come together today.”

Layered onto this culinary journey, animated projections drawn from the Library’s rich textures, patterns and colours ripple across the historic sandstone walls of The Mint.

A newly commissioned trip-hop-inspired soundtrack, live mixed by Munasib – an Australian-born Bengali DJ radio host and curator, creates shifting sonic moods that develop with each course.

Together, food, sound and imagery transform The Mint into a sensory experience that celebrates Sydney’s creative communities while bringing history vividly to life.
