The Museum has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to join the Collection Care and Management team as an Objects Conservator. The Objects Laboratory supports the strategic endeavor of the National Museum of Australia to become a recognised world-class museum.

The key duties of the position include:

The Objects Conservator will be part of a diverse team, reporting to the Senior Objects Conservator in a busy and dynamic environment. The position is part of the Objects Conservation team, delivering exhibitions and collections maintenance including, preventive programs, treatments, condition assessments and reporting, exhibition preparation, mount assessments and mount making, provide advice and guidance on environmental, storage and rehousing requirements, participate in exhibition installs and demounts including travelling exhibitions, develop and implement risk management measures, and conduct research and development to improve preservation outcomes.
There will also be opportunities to participate in public programs, respond to pubic and sector enquiries, represent the team at meetings where appropriate and occasional travel.

The position entails working closely with conservation and registration colleagues, a broad range of internal stakeholders across the organisation, external clients, volunteers and contractors on a variety of matters relating to objects within the collection.
