Sovereign Hill is a dynamic group of museums presenting the mining, social, cultural and environmental heritage of the Ballarat region and its impact on Australia’s history.
Our Engineering & Operations Division is responsible for the overall operations of the Outdoor Museum as well as constructing and maintaining all buildings and displays across Sovereign Hill, Comfort Inn Sovereign Hill, Gold Museum and Narmbool. The OHS Department is positioned within the Engineering and Operations Division. The OHS Department is primarily involved in driving OHS systems throughout the organisation. It provides expert assistance and advice to Manager’s and staff on OHS programs and procedures to ensure compliance and OHS best practices to reduce injury and harm.
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified individual in the position of Part Time OHS Officer. This role is Fixed Term for 2 years, working 3 days per week in the OHS Department. The OHS Officer is responsible for providing practical support and administration assistance to the OHS Manager as well as Department Managers and the OHS Committee.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in OHS or previous experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience, understanding and practical interpretation of legislative and regulatory requirements relating to OHS
- Developed safety awareness and ability to identify hazards and corrective actions
- Ability to investigate incidents and make recommendations for preventative actions
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with experience in MS Office packages and databases
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative
- Evidence of managing and implementing OHS projects
- Ability to work professionally and confidentially with good communication and negotiation skills
- Willingness to develop OHS skills and knowledge
