OM’s Ian Griffin’s Otago aurora

Dr Griffin said it had been a very busy weekend for aurora chasers, “with a couple of excellent displays both on Saturday and Sunday”.

He said the time-lapse video was shot from one of his favourite spots from about 7pm to 8pm.

“During this time the sky literally exploded with light for a few minutes around 7:30 in one of the most astonishing auroras I have seen for quite some time”
