Located in the lively tourist precinct of Sydney’s Darling Harbour, the Australian National Maritime Museum is one of Sydney’s most visited museums. We’re currently going through a period of transformation and seeking a passionate individual with a ‘spirit of adventure’ to help shape our future.
Reporting to the Head of Learning, the Onsite Programs Officer will be instrumental in delivering the museum’s vision through its master plan. The purpose of the role is to drive the development and delivery of informal learning programs that engage a range of different audiences with the objects and stories held by the museum. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop immersive, fun and inclusive intergenerational learning experiences that drive visitation and revenue for the museum.
The successful candidate will be required to have:
- Outstanding time management, analytical skills and organisational ability:
- Proven ability to develop and produce innovative programs, relevant to the Museums audiences from under-fives to adults.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise, promote, negotiate and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to liaise effectively with the public, volunteers, academic and special interest groups.
- Proven capacity to deliver programs on time and within budget.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and engage positively with other departments across the museum;
Selection for this position will be made on the basis of relative merit which will be assessed against each item of the selection criteria. Applications that do not address the selection criteria will not be considered for short-listing by the Selection Committee. As part of the selection process the selection committee may invite candidates to undertake psychometric test, you should advise the selection committee if you have any special needs. Psychometric tests may be used as the initial short-listing test or later in the selection process. Some tests are very short while others may take one or more hours.
