Operation and Business Support Officer, Scienceworks Museum 

Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking an Operation & Business Support Officer to work closely with General Manager, Scienceworks and key stakeholders to deliver business improvements in areas including strategic direction and promotion of Scienceworks, special projects and stakeholder engagement. This role also requires the assistance to Business Manager at Scienceworks Museum and Immigration Museum with business planning, reporting and contributing to the preparation of financial and visitation reports, grant administration and acquittals, Touring Hall reporting and other duties as required.

The role requires implementation of best practice administrative services, operational procedures and ability to work with a range of staff. The position plays a pivotal role in collaborating with other Museum departments and stakeholders to achieve this outcome.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The position is accountable for contributing to the effective operation of Scienceworks through the provision of efficient and timely business, data management and operational support. This will be achieved through the effective planning, management and resolution of operational issues. The position plays a pivotal role in collaborating with other Museum departments and stakeholders to achieve this outcome.

Skills and experience required for this position include:

  1. A good understanding of, and sound experience with, financial systems, including the MS Office suite, Customer Relationship Management applications, and procedures, including demonstrated experience in providing business planning and support.
  2. Demonstrated experience in providing high level in-confidence support, including the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  3. Demonstrated experience in the effective planning of significant public events with the ability to liaise with event organisers, internal and external stakeholders, and resolve operational issues, to deliver mutually shared outcomes.
  4. Demonstrated experience in managing small to medium projects under limited direction.
  5. High level communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise and negotiate effectively with senior management.
  6. Proven ability to undertake research/investigations and to produce high quality written documentation including business cases.
  7. Ability to work with minimal supervision, and to contribute effectively as part of a team.
