MV/9339: Project X covers two new exhibitions for Scienceworks –the first to immerse young children in an imaginative world of sensory discovery and construction‐play that will ignite their lifelong engagement with science, technology, engineering and maths (to open December 2017), and the second an Immersive experience for young adults, to explore imperceptible worlds of invisible waveforms (to open late March 2018).
MV/9338: The Humans project seeks to welcome a wider audience to the Melbourne Museum by creating a space for conversation and exploration of what it means to be human. Opening to the public in late 2018, Humans requires an Operational Project Manager to work with the project through its development to define operational needs and carry out cost and resource planning for this new long term exhibition.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The position is responsible for ensuring that during the redevelopment of an exhibition,
- operational visitor needs are defined and met, working with departments including Communications and Partnerships, Customer Service, Education and Community Programs and Digital and Emerging Technologies exhibition and facility operation needs are defined and met through design and delivery
- that operational costs and resources for the exhibitions full life are defined and understood
- the Readiness for Service stage of work is managed for a smooth transition from production to launch and operation
Notable skills and experiences:
- Clear understanding of the factors affecting visitor experience in a large visitor attraction
- Demonstrated experience in the operational management of large-scale exhibitions or other major visitor experiences; preferably in a museum, visitor attraction or entertainment environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience in, project management principles; including project timeframes, project costs, and identification of risks, including OH&S, and creating and maintaining accurate records, reports and operational documentation.
- Proven ability to apply initiative and resourcefulness in problem resolution and take a results oriented approach in this process.
- Able to demonstrate highly developed interpersonal communication, influencing and negotiation skills and apply these skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage productively in a team setting, and to establish productive working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.
- The successful applicant is required to undergo, and for new employees meet the cost of, a National Police Records Check and be assessed as suitable.
