As the People and Culture Advisor – Payroll at the National Museum of Australia, you will work under the direction of the Senior Payroll Manager as part of a larger People and Culture team to undertake payroll processing for the Museum staff and our shared services client Museum of Australian Democracy.  We are looking for someone with payroll and HRIS experience, preferably in the Australian Public Service however all experience will be considered.

The role requires the successful candidate to undertake duties that include:

  • processing payroll transactions salaries, superannuation, allowances, workers compensation payments and leave using the Museum’s HR information system – Aurion
  • responding to client queries relating to employment conditions and entitlements in a timely manner
  • interpreting Australian Public Service employment legislation, the Museum’s workplace agreements and other employment conditions and entitlements
  • creating productive working relationships with other areas of the Museum
  • demonstrating a commitment to learning and process improvement.
The key duties of the position include:The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience in payroll processing, using Aurion or a similar HR system. They will have knowledge of, and experience applying, employment and conditions legislation, such as the Fairwork Act, Awards and Enterprise Agreements, payroll practices and procedures.

The candidate will have strong attention to detail and proven ability to effectively organise their work to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

They will bring a client focus with strong communication and collaboration skills as well as experience working in a team environment, working with others to deliver payroll solutions.

The candidate will also have an inquisitive mind, with the ability to identify issues, to develop solutions to solve problems, have self-motivation, initiative and judgement, and to seek opportunities for learning and growth.
