Australia’s largest public museum organisation and Planetarium is seeking an animator skilled in producing 3D and 2D animations and computer graphics to help develop and deliver our new 25 minute fulldome 4K production, based on the Moon as a celebrated part of our culture, our history, our scientific endeavour and our magnificent companion in space. The show will be presented as a mix of story-telling and documentary – a combination of 3D and 2D animations and computer graphics, and some live action footage.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The primary responsibility of the position is to deliver high quality graphics, animation (2D & 3D) and computer-generated special effects for Melbourne Planetarium’s new show, completed on time and on budget.

Notable skills and experiences:

The successful applicant will have:

  1. Demonstrated expertise in animation and the specific software and equipment unique to computer animation.
  2. Broad experience in multimedia production with the demonstrated ability to produce innovative, creative, high quality work, such as in the museum exhibition or multimedia realm.
  3. Capacity to demonstrate the ability to produce high quality animations & special effects relevant to astronomy.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work within a specified schedule and budget.
  6. The successful applicant is required to undergo a National Police Records Check and Working with Children Check and be assessed as suitable (new employees are required to meet this cost).
