About the role
ACMI is seeking an Assistant Registrar to support our Lead Registrar, Registrar group and the Registration & Collections team in the procedural, logistical and data requirements for ACMI’s permanent, temporary and touring Exhibitions, commissioned works and acquired works. This includes the cataloguing and assessment requirements of external and ACMI Collection works and their preparation for exhibition and loan, and other related registration project delivery tasks, systems and procedures. This is a part-time ongoing role (3 days a week, Mon, Wed & Thurs) reporting to the Lead Registrar.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Experience and professional training in exhibition and collection registration, object handling and exhibition production practices together with a sound knowledge of current industry standards pertaining to collections and exhibition practices.
- Well-developed work organisation skills including the demonstrated ability to prioritise multiple competing timelines, meet strict deadlines and use initiative in problem solving; operate effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
- Well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills with capacity to contribute to the review and implementation of systems and processes, understand emerging trends and the potential application of new technology in this field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders and exhibition production and conservation professionals.
- Sound understanding of OH&S requirements and safe working practices as they related to the handling of Collection items, storage environments and the exhibition production environment.
