We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to oversee the financial activities of our organisation. As CFO, you will provide expert guidance to the Director and leadership team on financial budgeting, analysis, forecasting, reporting, and auditing.

About the role:

Oversee the organisation’s financial actives, provide strategic advice to the director on financial budgeting,
analysis, forecasting, reporting and auditing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide strategic leadership, management, direction and advice in the development and
    implementation of budgets and financial management strategies, policies and procedures to the
    Director, Executive Leadership Team, Finance and Audit Committee and MAGNT Board.
  2. Maintain the highest level of financial accountability, governance, and compliance across MAGNT and
    ensure optimum use of financial resources to build a strong and effective organisation.
  3. Take a long-term strategic view of MAGNT’s future directions, identifying corporate issues that need to
    be addressed, and develop strategies to position MAGNT to meet and take advantage of future
    challenges and opportunities.
  4. Provide policy and strategic advice on all matters relating to finance, commercial, investment and
    growth.
  5. Be responsible for major contract negotiations and financial matters on behalf of the Board and Director
    relative to new business development, strategic partnerships, and procurement.
  6. Manage the financial forecasting and budgets and oversee the preparation of all financial reporting
    including the annual external audit and annual financial statements.
  7. Provide leadership and vision that supports innovation and efficient and effective work practices,
    including mentoring and developing staff, particularly in budget development and monitoring.
  8. Lead the Finance, Governance, ICT and Building Facilities Management teams and ensure a high level of
    compliance with legislated requirements regarding WHS, risk management and corporate policies and
    procedures.
  9. Lead and facilitate organisational and cultural changes required to meet the organisation’s mission,
    values, and strategic plan.

 

Selection Criteria:

Essential

  1. Relevant qualifications and demonstrated experience in providing executive level financial accounting
    and business management advice to a Director or Chief Executive and Board.
  2. Proven experience in financial management, annual financial statement preparation, analytical and
    advisory functions and – the development and implementation of policy.
  3. Strong leadership and relationship management skills with the ability to strengthen a culture of financial
    accountability and transparency.
  4. Extensive knowledge of accrual accounting concepts and principles and financial management practices,
    preferably in a public sector environment.
  5. High level interpersonal skills particularly in communication, collaboration and negotiation, and highlevel written communication skills with a proven ability to write reports, policy papers, briefing notes
    and other correspondence in an environment requiring performance of multiple tasks.
  6. Excellent organisational skills with the demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, set priorities and work
    under pressure to meet conflicting deadlines.
  7. Proven ability to provide strategic leadership to staff at all levels, with the ability to articulate the
    corporate vision and values and translate that into effective strategic initiatives and operational plans.
  8. Demonstrated ability to show initiative and a focus on continued improvement.
  9. High level of integrity and confidentiality.

 

Desirable

  1. Membership of a recognised Australian accounting body
  2. Experience and knowledge of Northern Territory government systems including PIPS, GAS, BOXI, EIMS,
    TRIPS and TRIM
