The Construction and Installation Officer, Exhibition Workshop, undertakes assigned tasks including the construction, assembly and movement of set works required for Queensland Museum exhibitions, collection displays and other public program projects.

The Construction and Installation Officer, Exhibition Workshop will:

  • Undertake assigned tasks for the building, assembling and moving of set works, including walls, plinths, display cabinets, show cases and furniture.
  • Interpret building specifications to identify appropriate construction techniques and methods to realise constructions and seek guidance and direction, as required from the Principal Construction Officer.
  • Develop work plans for assigned tasks to ensure efficient and effective management of time and materials and minimal wastage.
  • Apply sound construction methods, techniques and skills including specialist high quality finishes to selected furniture, fittings and joinery to realise quality constructions.
  • Liaise with QM staff as appropriate to progress work and meet time frames.
  • Comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), regulations, codes and specifications relating to building and WHS including manual handling.
  • Comply with expectations for appropriate conduct in the workshop, handling and maintenance of workshop equipment, and cleanliness.
  • Provide guidance to the Assistant Intallation Officer about the expectations of tasks completion.
  • Comply with QM policies, procedures and appropriate legislation.
  • Contribute to the safety culture of QM by reporting all incidents and hazards and ensuring work is undertaken in the safest way possible, following all QM WHS policies and/or procedures and guidelines relevant to the job.
