About the Division

The Strategy, Governance and Development Division supports the Australian Museum to deliver its strategic priorities through strong governance, effective business operations, inclusive practice and meaningful stakeholder engagement.

About the Role

As the Divisional & Governance Coordinator, you will provide high-level executive, governance and administrative support across the Strategy, Governance and Development Division. Working closely with the Director, you will coordinate divisional operations, correspondence, records, procurement activities and the flow of information, while delivering secretariat support for Board committees, advisory panels and other governance forums. You will prepare high-quality agendas, papers and minutes, monitor actions, maintain governance records, support audit and reporting activities, and coordinate accessibility and inclusion governance activities. Through this varied and highly connected role, you will help strengthen organisational governance, support informed decision-making and keep important divisional priorities moving forward.

Employment Status:

  • Clerk Grade 5/6
  • Fixed Term, up to 7 months
  •  Full-time

You will be paid a competitive total remuneration package of $116,832 – $128,912, including an annual salary of $102,936 – $113,579, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation (currently 12%) and annual leave loading.

About you

You are a highly organised, proactive and adaptable professional who enjoys bringing structure to complex and fast-moving work. You have demonstrated experience providing executive support to senior leaders and coordinating committees or governance forums, with strong skills in preparing accurate documentation, managing meeting cycles and balancing competing priorities.

You exercise sound judgement, handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain a high level of attention to detail, even when deadlines shift. A confident and respectful communicator, you build trusted relationships with senior executives, Board and committee members, advisory groups and other diverse stakeholders, and take pride in delivering reliable, inclusive and customer-focused support.

To be eligible for this role at the Australian Museum, you must hold full working rights in Australia and meet all essential requirements listed in the position description.

 

Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience providing executive and administrative support to senior leaders including diary management, meeting coordination, correspondence and secretariat services 
  • Demonstrated experience providing secretariat support to multiple committees and governance forums with strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing concurrent meeting cycles and documentation requirements
  • Knowledge of governance frameworks, compliance requirements and administrative systems with proven ability to coordinate governance activities and maintain records 
  • Understanding of disability access legislation and standards with experience supporting accessibility initiatives or consultation activities
  • Proven ability to prepare high-quality documentation, manage competing priorities and liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders including senior executives and external parties
  • Experience with financial transactions, procurement processes and information management systems in a complex organizational environment
  • Experience using Tessitura CRM system an advantage.
  • Availability to attend after hours events as required
