The Finance Officer is an integral part of the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD) Finance Team and focuses primarily on financial accounting, reporting and operations. The Finance Officer reports to the Senior Finance Officer, and will work closely with the Accounts and Treasury Officer and Budget Officer to ensure financial operations are performed to a high quality within required timeframes, and that the reporting to stakeholders is comprehensive and fit for purpose.
The key duties of the position include:
Under the direction of the Senior Finance Officer, the Finance Officer will be required to:
- Maintain the General Ledger in MoAD’s Financial Management Information System, including
processing accruals and more complex accounting journals. - Prepare month and year-end balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare high quality and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for internal and
external stakeholders. - Maintain MoAD’s external reporting requirements in CBMS including monthly and annual actuals
and estimates. - Supervise the APS3 Accounts and Treasury Officer including reviewing and approving their work,
providing clear instruction and guidance, and providing timely feedback through their performance
and development scheme agreement. - Assist in the development and maintenance of financial policies, procedures and work instructions.
- Assist in the development of ad hoc reporting including senate estimates briefings, responses to
Questions on Notice, and surveys from other Government agencies. - Engage with, and provide high quality service and support, to internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify process and system improvements under the guidance of the Senior Finance Officer and
Finance Manager. - Other finance functions as advised.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this position at MoAD, applicants must:
- be an Australian Citizen; and
- have a security clearance or be willing to undertake the process to obtain a baseline clearance (after commencement); and
- be willing to provide identity documents and undergo an identity pre-employment check through a Document Verification Service, if you are deemed to be the successful candidate.
