Based at the Immigration Museum in Melbourne’s CBD, the Learning Facilitator delivers engaging, curriculum-linked education programs to school groups and other visiting audiences across the museum’s Theatrette, Education Centre and gallery spaces. Reporting to the Education Producer, Immigration Museum, you will bring the museum’s stories of migration, identity and belonging to life for students of all ages — facilitating programs with energy, warmth and cultural sensitivity, and contributing to the ongoing development and evaluation of the Immigration Museum’s learning offer.

Some of the key duties include:

  • Facilitating education programs for school and community groups at the Immigration Museum, including programs delivered in the Theatrette, Education Centre and galleries.
  • Adapting delivery to suit a range of year levels, learning needs and cultural backgrounds, and managing group behaviour and safety throughout each session.
  • Preparing program spaces, resources and materials, and ensuring equipment and props are maintained and ready for use.
  • Contributing to the development, trialling and evaluation of new and existing learning programs, including feedback on content and delivery.
  • Working collaboratively with Public Programs & Education colleagues across Museums Victoria venues to support consistent, high-quality program delivery.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated experience facilitating or teaching groups of children and young people, ideally in a museum, gallery, cultural or classroom setting.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and adapt delivery on the spot.
  • An understanding of the Victorian Curriculum and how museum learning experiences can support it.
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity, particularly in presenting content relating to migration, identity, diversity and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures.
  • The ability to work flexibly as part of a small team, including availability across weekdays and occasional weekends or public holidays.
