The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.

We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia’s history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.

About the Role

The Learning Operations Manager is responsible for the seamless operational delivery of Sovereign Hill’s education camps and excursion programs. Serving as the key link between our visitation strategy and program logistics, this role ensures exceptional customer service through effective system management, strong stakeholder engagement, and a commitment to continuous improvement. By championing operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and forward-thinking practices, the Learning Operations Manager supports visitation growth through data-informed decisions and strong cross-team collaboration, helping to future-proof our program delivery. This is a 3-year fixed-term contract.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Head of Learning to implement the Education Roadmap and develop initiatives that grow visitation.
  • Oversee the daily delivery of education programs, ensuring alignment between learning objectives, site logistics, and customer service.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency to improve service delivery.
  • Manage data collection and monitor KPIs related to visitation, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in Frontline Management, education, hospitality, tourism and/or customer service OR a minimum of 3 years management experience in customer service or tourism
