About the Projects 

As the Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for delivering key capital works and infrastructure projects at the Australian Museum over the next 10 months. Below is a summary of the key project deliverables the role will be overseeing: 

  1. Visitor and Staff Care Spaces: purpose-built spaces to perform first aid and support services. 
  1. Space Optimisation: Lead strategic planning and execution of space utilisation programs to enhance operational efficiency. 
  1. Accessibility Upgrades: Manage construction projects focused on improving accessibility, including accessible toilets and drop-off zones.

 

About You 

The AM is seeking a candidate with strong project management experience, including planning, delivery, and contract management within cultural or heritage buildings. You’ll bring sound knowledge of building fabric, structure, and engineering services. You have a track record of managing complex projects in sensitive environments, balancing operational needs with conservation priorities. Your skills include managing budgets, procurement, and invoice processing—experience with myWorkZone is advantageous.

  • Full-time, 35 hours
  • Period of engagement: 10 months with possibility of extension

Knowledge & Experience  

  • Demonstrated experience in project planning, delivery, and contract management within a cultural or heritage building environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of building fabric, structure, and engineering services, particularly in the context of public and heritage-listed facilities.
  • Proven ability to manage projects in sensitive environments, balancing operational needs with conservation and curatorial priorities.
  • Experience with financial administration, including procurement and invoice processing and tracking project budgets and forecasts. Experience using JSAP or myWorkZone advantageous.

 

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary level qualifications, or demonstrable equivalent professional experience, in a relevant discipline
  • Current Australian Driver’s license
