About the Projects
As the Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for delivering key capital works and infrastructure projects at the Australian Museum over the next 12 months. Below is a summary of the key project deliverables the role will be overseeing:
- Multi-site infrastructure renewal — sequencing works across locations, aligning contractor schedules, and maintaining a consolidated programme and budget view.
- Heritage-sensitive upgrade in an occupied building — managing site access, programming around public and collection constraints, and keeping conservation requirements front of mind.
- Building services replacement, managing technical scoping inputs, contractor coordination, and commissioning through to defects close-out.
About You
The AM is seeking a candidate with strong project management experience, including planning, delivery, and contract management within cultural or heritage buildings. You’ll bring sound knowledge of building fabric, structure, and engineering services. You have a track record of managing complex projects in sensitive environments, balancing operational needs with conservation priorities. Your skills include managing budgets, procurement, and invoice processing—experience with myWorkZone is advantageous.
To be eligible for this role at the Australian Museum, you must hold full working rights in Australia and meet all essential requirements listed in the position description.
Employment Status:
- Clerk Grade 7/8
- Fixed term up to end of June 2027, with the possibility for extension
- Full-time, 35 hours per week

You will be paid a competitive total remuneration package of $128,906 – $142,692, including an annual salary of $113,574 – $125,720, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation (currently 12%) and annual leave loading.
Knowledge & Experience
- Demonstrated experience in project planning, delivery, and contract management within a cultural or heritage building environment.
- In-depth knowledge of building fabric, structure, and engineering services, particularly in the context of public and heritage-listed facilities.Proven ability to manage projects in sensitive environments, balancing operational needs with conservation and curatorial priorities.
- Experience with financial administration, including procurement and invoice processing and tracking project budgets and forecasts. Experience using JSAP or myWorkZone advantageous.
- A current Australian driver’s license.
- White card, or the ability to obtain one.
Essential requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent industry experience in project management, facilities and /or building service management.
