ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Project Manager is responsible for project managing the development and delivery of strategic capital works projects for Museums Victoria. The role is accountable for developing, managing and delivering the complete life cycle of strategic capital works projects from commencement to completion, commissioning and handover. These projects form part of a broader program of improvement and upgrade works across MV’s facilities and may also contribute to wider business and project management improvement initiatives, operating in accordance with MV policies and procedures and Victorian Government procurement requirements. The successful applicant will have qualifications or related experience in building facility management, construction, architecture, engineering, project management, or related discipline.
Some of the key duties include:
- Develop project scope documents, project management plans, stakeholder engagement plans, design briefs, budget tracking spreadsheets and risk registers for strategic capital works projects.
- Procure, engage and manage consultants to ensure delivery of agreed scope, performance standards and timelines.
- Prepare project documentation, correspondence, meeting agendas, minutes and action items for governance groups and stakeholder meetings.
- Manage quotation and tender processes, procurement management plans, evaluation panels and evaluation reports.
- Lead and assist in the development of government business cases and funding applications for capital works projects.
- Contribute to improving project delivery methodologies and undertake complex or technical investigations on project works and issues.
- Coordinate and administer project governance groups, including providing regular project reports and updates.
- Manage staff contributors, stakeholders, consultants and contractors engaged on projects.
- Undertake financial and contract management and administration tasks.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Government stakeholders and partner organisations, providing regular communications and presentations.
- Comply with Museums Victoria’s policies and procedures and relevant legislation and regulations.
The successful applicant will have:
- Demonstrated experience delivering multiple, concurrent, complex, high-profile capital works projects within occupied facilities, on time and within budget.
- Proficiency in project management methodology, coordination and delivery, preferably within a government environment.
- Strong project financial, cost and budget management skills, including tracking and reporting.
- Proven ability to manage staff contributors, stakeholders and financial resources, including preparing regular project progress reports.
- Demonstrated high-quality written and verbal communication skills, including formal correspondence and technical reporting.
- Experience managing teams of project design and delivery consultants, including architects, engineers, building surveyors and other technical experts.
- Strong collaborative skills with the ability to foster cooperation across cross-organisational teams.
- High-level communication and negotiation skills with the ability to present information clearly and engagingly.
- A strong and independent work ethic, with the ability to manage competing demands and priorities.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Architecture, Engineering or a related discipline.
