The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.
We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia’s history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.
About the Role
We are seeking an “A” Grade Electrician or AV Technician to join our team at Sovereign Hill. The ‘A’ Grade Electrician is responsible for providing electrical and specialist technical support throughout the organisation. This is a full time role.
Working as part of the technical services team, you will be responsible for the electrical maintenance and audio visual across our museum workplace. You will work as part of a team to maintain all electrical, electronic services, lighting, audio visual, special effect equipment, fire alarms, testing and tagging and security systems. You will work across the various Sovereign Hill sites, in providing specialist and general electrical service. Using your design and construction skills, you will deliver the electrical requirements to all general areas of Sovereign Hill, The Rare Trades Centre, AURA, Narmbool and the Sovereign Hill Hotel. The role is predominately Monday to Friday, however the successful candidate would need to be available for rostered on-call work and occasional out of hours work.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- An “A” grade qualified electrician certificate with at least two years electrical work experience, or suitably qualified AV Technician
- A self starter, extremely well organised and with excellent communication skills.
- An understanding and commitment to ensuring a safe work environment.
- Skills and/or qualifications in Phone, Data, Fire Alarms or Security is preferred but not essential.
