ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Security Operations Coordinator is responsible for defining and implementing operational policies, managing security staff, and providing specialist expertise to ensure the seamless delivery of security services across Museums Victoria. The role involves developing operational guidelines, resolving complex service delivery challenges, managing projects and resources, and interpreting business plans to align with program objectives.
As a key liaison between internal stakeholders and contracted service providers, the position applies advanced theoretical knowledge and practical expertise to support effective problem solving, policy development, and resource allocation. The role also oversees security staff performance, including training, monitoring KPIs, and ensuring compliance with operational policies, protocols, and service delivery standards.
Some of the key duties include:
- Providing expert guidance, training, and development opportunities to security staff to enhance service delivery standards
- Developing and implementing operational policies and guidelines, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and business plans
- Monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on staff KPIs to management on a regular basis
- Assisting with and leading incident investigations, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution of operational issues
- Identifying operational gaps and recommending resource allocation to ensure adequate security coverage
- Managing and negotiating service agreements relating to security guarding, services, and systems
- Collaborating closely with the Manager, Security Operations to maintain consistency across shifts
- Leading complex investigations into security incidents and providing actionable recommendations
- Ensuring compliance with accepted standards, protocols, and relevant legislation to mitigate risks
- Monitoring and managing staff overtime to ensure effective budget control
The successful applicant will have:
- Demonstrated strong leadership capability within a security operations environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both the public and internal teams
- Proven ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergency situations
- Experience in security operations, including rostering, guard resourcing, and project management
- Proficiency in security systems, software, and incident reporting tools
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information securely
- Relevant qualifications such as a Certificate II in Security, a valid Security Licence, or Physical Security Professional (PSP®) certification
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
