The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia’s history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.
About the Role
The Social Media & Content Coordinator is responsible for growing and engaging social media audiences across the Sovereign Hill Museums Association growing suite of brands; and contributing to the creation and delivery of content across web and e-newsletters.
A typical day might involve:
- Working with Sovereign Hill teams to create video or photo images for social media including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Tik Tok.
- Scheduling and planning social media content across multiple platforms and brands including, Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Centre for Rare Arts & Forgotten Trades, Centre for Gold Rush Collections and the Sovereign Hill Museums Association.
- Working with the Marketing team to create content for web and e-newsletters.
- Working closely with the Media & Content Manager to manage issues as they arise.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Produce and manage a monthly social media content calendar across all social media platforms and brands to drive reach and engagement.
- Manage social media on a day-to-day basis including creating posts, scheduling and moderation.
- Generate reports on performance and identify opportunities.
- Stay up-to-date with current digital and social trends.
- Support marketing campaigns and plans through social media posts, advertising, e-newsletters and web.
- Capture and edit photos and video content for use across social media and with partners.
- Ensure content posts to social media is in line with brand tone and style.
- Work closely with third-party videographers and photographers when required.
- Collaborate with teams and other stakeholders within the organisation to find and develop content.
- Manage content creators and influencers to promote Sovereign Hill’s events, school holiday programs, products, and experiences.
- Reach out to influencers, bloggers, and industry partners, fostering collaborations and managing content partnerships.
- Assist in the creation and sending of e-newsletters.
- Collaborate with other SHMA team leads and departments to achieve positive outcomes.
- Desire to mutually share knowledge for the greater good.
- Establish trust, inspire others.
- Assist with the induction, training and mentoring of new staff as required.
- Attend Sovereign Hill induction and training as required.
- Contribute to the delivery of special events and programs as required.
- Participate in annual performance reviews, meetings and staff training and professional development as and when required.
- Help foster a culture which values safety as primary consideration in all activities.
- Any other relevant duties as required.
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience working in social media, PR or similar content related fields is required.
- A relevant degree or post-graduate qualification in arts, journalism, communications, public relations or similar field is desirable.
