ABOUT THE POSITION:

The primary responsibility of the Visitor Engagement Officer role, based at the Immigration Museum, is to deliver high-quality service and engagement by welcoming and receiving all visitors to our museum venues. This includes orienting guests, processing ticket sales, and providing excellent customer service to ensure visitors have a memorable experience.

Some of the key duties include: 

  • Interact with visitors to provide an enjoyable and engaging experience and provide services and information regarding programs, exhibitions and facilities
  • Positively resolve visitor issues and complaints within Museum guidelines and procedures
  • Competently operate a computerised ticketing and booking system and receive admissions and other charges accurately
  • Assist Public Programs staff in the delivery of programs and activations
  • Provide tours and presentations to visitors and VIP groups

 

The successful applicant will have:

  • Previous experience in a visitor-facing role is highly valued but not essential
  • Competency with computers and point-of-sale equipment
  • Availability to work some evenings when Museum activities focus on something outside of the normal Museum experience.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member within a diverse organisation.
  • The successful applicant is required to undergo a National Police Records Check and Working with Children Check and be assessed as suitable (new employees are required to meet this cost).

 

The successful applicant will be required to be available for rostering across the 7 days of museum operations including weekends and public holidays.
