Now in its 7th year and hosted by Queensland Museum, World Science Festival Brisbane explores and celebrates the entanglement of science and art through a curated program of thought-provoking conversations, inspiring theatrical and cinematic experiences, interactive workshops and engaging demonstrations. As Producer you will curate and produce a series of science and technology-based installations, artworks and experiences, working closely with artists, digital creators and the site team.

World Science Festival Brisbane explores and celebrates the entanglement of science and art through a curated program of thought-provoking conversations, inspiring theatrical and cinematic experiences, major outdoor events, and education activities.

The Producer, Public Art Program will curate and produce a series of science and technology-based installations, experiences and artworks. The Producer will work closely and collaboratively with artists, as well as fabricators, digital creators, and Site team, to realise the creative visions. The Producer will be an exemplary communicator, project manager and problem solver ensuring every aspect of the project – production, stakeholder relations, site design, schedule, budget – are masterfully and thoughtfully delivered.

The Producer, Public Art Program will:

  1. Collaborate with the Head, WSFB and Events and Senior Producer, to develop a detailed program and schedule.
  2. Curate and produce a series of installations, artworks and experiences, including artist commissioning and contracting, to international standards in accordance with agreed timeframe and budget.
  3. Collaborate with the producing team to develop associated public programming.
  4. Plan a detailed site layout with artists, designers, Site Manager, engineer, and stakeholders.
  5. Prepare content including program materials for reports, presentations, marketing, and online content.
  6. Prepare and implement plans, documentation, and risk analyses for the program.
  7. Develop and manage the program schedule and information in the event system and develop and disseminate event-related documentation.
  8. Manage the program budget, financial approvals, and procurement of program-related services and equipment.
  9. Convene, lead and participate in working parties, meetings, and program-related briefings.
  10. Comply with Queensland Museum Network policies, procedures, and appropriate legislation.
  11. Contribute to the safety culture of Queensland Museum Network by reporting all incidents and hazards and ensuring work is undertaken in the safest way possible, following all Queensland Museum Network WHS policies and/or procedures and guidelines relevant to the job.

There are no mandatory qualifications for this role however previous experience in public art programming and installations for a festival or major event is required.
