Production Manager – Queensland Museum

Now in its 7th year and hosted by Queensland Museum, World Science Festival Brisbane explores and celebrates the entanglement of science and art through a curated program of thought-provoking conversations, inspiring theatrical and cinematic experiences, interactive workshops, and engaging demonstrations. As Production Manager, you will oversee the technical planning and delivery of in-theatre hybrid events and pre-recorded conversations for live and online audiences.

World Science Festival Brisbane explores and celebrates the entanglement of science and art through a curated program of thought-provoking conversations, inspiring theatrical and cinematic experiences, major outdoor events, and education activities.

The Production Manager will manage the audiovisual, production, technical and logistical elements for in-theatre hybrid events and pre-recorded conversations at World Science Festival Brisbane 2022. The role covers scoping, system design, budgeting, scheduling, planning, and delivery.

The successful applicant will have demonstrated production experience in a theatre environment with capability in technical system design and delivery for live streaming, remote callers, and AV content. Highly detailed, resourceful and calm under pressure, the applicant will work collaboratively with producers, speakers, venues, and contractors to achieve the best possible outcome for live and online audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage production and technical delivery for in-theatre hybrid events and recorded conversations including supervision of production contractors and liaison with venue technical teams.
• Collaborate with producers to determine production and technical requirements including audiovisual content, lighting, recording, streaming, remote callers, and staging.
• Manage audiovisual content producers and oversee the delivery of audiovisual content to venues.
• Manage the production budget, financial approvals, and procurement of production-related services and equipment.
• Develop and manage the production schedule, crew roster, and production information in the event system and develop and disseminate event-related documentation.
• Convene, attend and lead meetings, production-related briefings, and technical rehearsals as required.
• Build, maintain and leverage cooperative and productive working relationships with Queensland Museum colleagues and external stakeholders to grow support and recognition of World Science Festival Brisbane as one of Australia’s premier events.
• Comply with Queensland Museum Network policies, procedures, and appropriate legislation.
• Contribute to the safety culture of Queensland Museum Network by reporting all incidents and hazards and ensuring work is undertaken in the safest way possible, following all Queensland Museum Network WHS policies and/or procedures and guidelines relevant to the job.

While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, demonstrated experience managing audiovisual, technical, and production requirements for live and hybrid events will be highly regarded.
