The Audience and Insight (A&I) Directorate has been established to lead an integrated approach to how our visitor-facing activities connect people, taonga and stories. Audience-centric and strongly collaborative, the directorate brings together the activities of programme development, audience research and evaluation, marketing and communications, digital strategy, and content and exhibition design.

We have an exciting opportunity to join this mahi in the new role of Programming Coordinator. The Coordinator will support the Head of Programming and the Director A&I to create and maintain Te Papa’s rolling five-year programme of activities, including temporary exhibitions, touring exhibitions, events and online projects.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage planning documentation for generating and scoping activities
  • Coordinate programming meetings, including concept review, scoping, decision-making and evaluation meetings
  • Support staff throughout Te Papa to generate proposals for the programme
  • Champion audience development goals
  • Ensure Te Papa’s commitment to biculturalism and serving the diverse communities of Aotearoa shape the programme
  • Maintain a holistic view of Te Papa’s operations, onsite and online, to inform the planning and prioritisation of the programme

  • Initiative and commitment to continuous improvement
  • An understanding of project management, ideally in a museum or similar context
  • Commitment to Te Papa’s bicultural kaupapa
  • A strongly collaborative approach to your work
  • Highly effective planning, communication, negotiation and influencing skills
