Australia’s largest public museum organisation is seeking an outstanding STEM educator to develop and deliver innovative programs for students and teachers as part of Museums Victoria’s Education and Community Programs department.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The primary responsibility of the Programs Coordinator, STEM is the development and delivery of STEM education programs and teacher professional learning programs and resources which meet Museums Victoria’s objectives and priorities, and are consistent with the requirements of Victoria’s Department of Education and Training and Catholic Education Melbourne (CEM). The role contributes to the development of early years, F-12, tertiary and adult audiences, as well as liasing with with universities, education organisations and industry to develop relationships and partnerships with Scienceworks.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Extensive knowledge of STEM curriculum areas and pedagogy, including current issues in STEM education. Direct experience in a science or technology field desirable.
  2. Proven ability to develop innovative STEM education programs, meeting the needs of diverse learners using a range of technologies and contemporary approaches to learning.
  3. Demonstrated capacity to use insights and to critically reflect on and evaluate professional practice in order to enhance the development and delivery of programs.
  4. Demonstrated ability to liaise with key stakeholders, particularly professional teaching organisations, and/or school communities and STEM industries, based on direct and up-to-date experience with an education provider.
  5. Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for own performance and to co-ordinate and lead projects, ensuring that targets and objectives are achieved within agreed timeframes.
  6. The successful applicant is required to have, or be willing to undergo and meet the cost of a Working with Children Check and be assessed as suitable.

The successful applicant will have a passion for science, technology, engineering and maths, and experience with a range of education audiences.
